Description

WHEN COHEN HOARD GETS A TONGUE IN THE MAIL, it really ruins his day. The package isn’t even addressed to him, it’s addressed to Calla Human, whoever that is.

Cohen doesn’t have time for disembodied tongues. The transportation AI they are creating at work is going to change the world. And Cohen has to fix the bug in his demo code before it releases in a few days. But now he’s got to take care of this stupid tongue first.

When he manages to deliver the tongue to Calla Human, she drags him into a bizarre new world where severed limbs are merely a commodity and a mysterious client is calling all the shots. But if they don’t figure out what The Client wants the body parts for, they might be in more danger than anyone realizes. Then Cohen will never get his code fixed.

Cuz he’ll be dead.

Quotes from The Dissection & Reassembly of Cohen Hoard

I wished for one fleeting moment to be back in my bed, curled up with my laptop, wondering where Jocelyn was. It may not have been much of a life, but before this I had never once tried to rob a funeral home, and it was kind of a point of pride for me.

In some parts of the world, the nightly storms were violent hurricanes, but in Portland, the biggest danger was the sheer amount of water falling out of the sky. It was like riding through a waterfall.

My brain took that moment to think about how much I liked being in her arms. I liked it a lot. Even in the face of certain death.

I was intending not to put it down so I could say “couldn’t put it down” but I had to set it down for a few minutes. Then I went overseas and didn’t take it. So I bought an e-copy and finished it on my trip. The first part of the story draws you in and the last part was gripping and I enjoyed the ending very much. Not giving anything away… read it yourself 🙂

  2. Charlotte

This was such a fun, quirky futuristic book! Different kind of setting than most books set in the future. Very likable characters and a great plot twist! Would definitely read it again!

  3. Trina P.

My work suffered because all I wanted to do was read this book! I finished it and immediately started over because I wanted to spend more time with these characters.

  4. Carolyn

The funniest sci-fi I’ve red in a long time.
I love Hagberg’s quirky voice. So much fun and the conversations are a hoot. Not to mention the intrigue and mystery that kept me wondering what the heck was going on as much as Cohen himself. If you love mysteries, sci-fi, humor, tongues in the mail, and a romping good time, I’d highly recommend it! I’ll be making sure to follow this author going forward. I don’t want to miss out!
